Theodore "Ted" Watkins, Associate Minister
 

Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey but raised in Chester Pennsylvania Theodore Watkins (Ted) moved from Philadelphia (PA) to Henderson Nevada with his family in July 1998.

After visiting several churches in Las Vegas, Ted and his family settled in comfortably with his new Church family at Community Baptist Church under the guidance of Pastor Sam Roberson in September 1998.

Founded in 1875, Ted attended the historic Calvary Baptist Church in Chester Pennsylvania. Calvary Baptist Church became the Church home of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., while he attended the renowned Crozer Theological Seminary in Upland, Pa., to earn his B.Div. Degree. Ted accepted Christ as his Savior and demonstrated his acceptance by Water Baptism at the age of 16.

Ted is married to Charlotte Williams-Watkins (whom he met as a student attending Shippensburg University in PA). They have one daughter Kirstin, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Watkins’ educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Business Management, a Master of Art degree in Organizational Management (MA) and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Elementary Education. He plans to pursue a Master of Divinity degree in the near future.

Ted is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and his a founding member of 100 Black Men of Las Vegas as well as former President. Ted also served on the Committee formed to open a Charter School, later named the 100 Academy of Excellence Charter School in partnership with Imagine Schools out of Arlington, VA. He served on the Board of Directors for the Charter School for four years.

Ted is most proud to be the husband of Charlotte, the father of Kirstin, the son of Yvonne Hicks, and the brother of Nathaniel Newman, Kimberly Newman and Robert Hicks, and the son-in-law of Deborah Williams.
